I suppose that after 25 years it is time to contact the class! I'm currently sailing as Master on board the Car Carrier, M/V Honor, in the US/Middle East Service. I've been here for 2 1/2 years after sailing as Chief Mate to Alaska and the Middle East for quite a number of years, and a stint as Director of Marine Operations for a passenger ship company, all following active duty USN time and work in ferries and small passenger ships, and deep sea Ro-Ro experience--not to mention a trick as CO at KP for a bit. I had the pleasure of being in Kuwait off-loading cargo on the day of the (current) invasion, living in anti-chemical suits for 3 days, 13 SCUD alets--watching the helo's launch from the carriers via RADAR on their way to the beach. The ship I was on, Northern Lights, was awarded the Admiral of the Ocean Sea Award for 2003. Carol, originally from Gig Harbor, WA, and a former Cruise Director, and I have been married for almost 19 years and have 3 boys--14, 11, and 3 and have been enjoying life in the Pacific Northwest when not away. "For fun," I've been observing and training with the SE Alaska Pilots during vacations--which keeps me busy. It is amazing the people who you meet in Kuwait! I was surprised to host our classmate Capt. Scott O'Connor as US Navy Pilot while docking in Kuwait. (Our photo made the Kings Pointer last year.) Also, Bruce Cummings '80 (RC) has piloted a few times as well. I don't know if I'll make the 25th, but I wish all well to all.
